Steve Russell became fascinated with the political process in America during the presidential campaign of 1960.  Steve organized a Kennedy for President chapter in his elementary school.  He began collecting political memorabilia at that time.  With Kennedy's election Steve's dad rewarded him with a trip to the presidential inauguration.  There he got to see the new president twice.  First on route to the inaugural  setting and at the parade.  Russell remembers Kennedy's very red hair with gray throughout.

Throughout high school and college Russell continued his interest in political memorabilia.  Throughout Russell's professional career as a teacher and building principal he has directed the erection of numerous exhibits on the political process.  Titles include Campaign and the Candidates, The Martyred Presidents, Dwight D. Eisenhower:General and President, Silent Calvin Coolidge Born on the Fourth of July, Presidential Inaugurations, etc.

Russell has maintained one of the largest presidential collections in the country that he is contacted frequently by museums and universities for material.  He does consulting with both organizations and collectors.  He is a noted speaker at many organizations throughout the Pittsburgh area.
